Weekly MIDI download charts

We are pleased to announce the very first new feature of 2010. It is not very big, but it could be very useful: the weekly download charts. Unlike the all time download chart you can now see what MIDI files are popular on Nonstop2k the last 7 days.
Eventually this feature will be moved to the front page, but right now it can be found at the bottom of the MIDI home page.

Next update: MIDI request section (this is going to be much bigger than this one ;))

Apocalypse Recordings & Nonstop2k presents: Make That Tune!

Dear members,

We have teamed up with the guys from Apocalypse Recordings to bring you our latest contest. We are very pleased to announce: “Make That Tune!” The concept of this contest is simple, you produce your best trance, progressive house or progressive trance track. There can only be ONE winner, so if YOU win, your track will be released on Apocalypse Recordings owned by non other then Inge Lemon / DJ Lemon (from Lemon & Einar K / Aven) and Anwar Maharban (from Electric Traveller). But wait, there is more! One or perhaps Two of Apocalypse’ artists will remix your track as well! Entries can be send via pm to John on Nonstop2k. Be sure to submit a full track and a 1:30min minute sample that will be used to show the others what you have come up with. Please note that the samples will be listenable 2 days before the closing date.

Now fire up your sequencers and start producing!

For full details see this topic.

Nonstop2k's new years resolution: losing weight

One of our 2010 new years resolutions is to get in shape again. Nonstop2k has gained some figurative weight over the years which we have to carry with us. There are quite some features that are hardly ever used and forums that are inactive. 2010 Is the year that we are going to do something about it.

To get in shape again, we have decided to close down a couple of things. First the language forums; no one was active there anyway. Second, the MIDI submit section. This section was already closed for posting, but has now been removed completely. Uploading of MIDI files can be done straight via the upload button, the topics are still in the MIDI section though so the attached MIDI files are not lost.

Some other forums are not merged together: the full articles and gear forums for instance. These are now part of the producers knowledge forum.

The featured artist section is closed as well, it is not part of our core activities.

The largest change is the closure of the patches section. Opened in 2007 the patches section never was really active and because we feel that we cannot make it better with our current resources closing it down was the best option.

Lastly, we have deleted all accounts that have not seen any activity since January 1st 2008. We will do the same for all accounts that have not seen any activity before January 1st 2009, however not until we have notified all of those members. This will happen within the next 3 months.

Without this extra 'weight' we feel a little more fit. Yet we are not there yet, losing this weight is one thing, getting fit is the next thing. Changes planned for this year involve the request section and optimization of the remix contests.

So to conclude, we are again focussing on what we do best, MIDI files and remix contests! :)

We're here!
